The Process.

All of the answers to your questions, right in one place.

How do we do this?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business.

1. The Vibe check

Our eyes meet across a crowded room and you start to wonder - is this it? Is this the person who will be marrying me??

Well I certainly hope so!

The first meeting is purely here so that we can suss each other out and make sure that we’re on the same wavelength. Spoiler alert… if you want a wedding that is fun, delightful and sure to put a smile on your face, we’re going to get along.

This is your chance to ask me any questions you might have. I will likely ask you less because you’ll have already told me enough in your enquiry to get to this point. But we can go through everything and anything here.

The meeting will likely be held over Zoom, but we can do a phone call if that’s easier. And if you’d like to bypass this step completely and lock me in to secure your date, we can absolutely do that too.

After the call I’ll be waiting by my phone to hear from you and your partner for a yay or nay. If it’s a no that’s absolutely okay, but if it’s a yes that’s even better!

2. You book (YAYYYYY!)

You’re locked in - YAYYYYYYYY!! Happy dance has been done and then I’ll send out to you my terms of business and invoice.

For weddings happening more than 3 months out the invoice is typically paid in three instalments broken down like this:

If booking me as your Celebrant only this is the structure

  • $500 non refundable booking fee, taken off the total price, payable within 7 days of issue.

  • $500 due 3 months before your wedding day.

  • The final amount payable 1 month before your wedding day.

If you’d like me to be your MC too add $200 to each of the first two payments.

The terms of business I ask you to sign within a week of receipt.

All of this can be tailored to suit you perfectly.

3. We start planning!

The following is based on a wedding that is booked more than 4 months in advance.

About 4 months before your wedding day you’ll get an email from me with dates available to meet both in person or online. At this meeting we will

  • Sign the Notice of Intended Marriage,

  • Talk about what your expectations of a wedding ceremony will be and how you want your ceremony to look and feel,

  • I will sight your ID and, if applicable, sight proof of how your last marriage ended, and

  • Go through any and every question, concern, worry, niggle or tidbit that you have questions about

4. One month out

Oooh! We’re reaching the juicy bits! The pointy end! The omg are we actually almost there bits!

Over these weeks you’ll start getting some emails from me confirming

  • Who you would like to be your witnesses and whether you would like to recognise the traditional owners of the land on which you’re being married on on your official wedding certificate

  • Whether you’re happy for me to post photos on my social media - ME POSTING PHOTOS TO MY SOCIALS AND WEBSITE IS A PRIVILEGE TO BE SHARED, not something that I take for granted. You can absolutely say no to any pics being shared, or just any featuring children. This is completely up to you.

  • That the details of your marriage paperwork are all correct and spelled perfectly.

I will also book in a meeting with you to go through the ceremony. This will include reading you the ceremony in the days before your wedding, doing a complete run through of logistics and talk about dress code, mobile phone usage during the ceremony and so much more.

If I’m MC’ing then we’ll also talk about who are conducting speeches, how you’d like them to be introduced, what your preferred drink is, what circumstances can come up, if there’s any trick family situations I can help negotiate, who your VVIPs are and whatever else can come up.

FAQ - Generally an onsite rehearsal isn’t needed, but can be arranged upon discussion.

5. The day of!

SQUEEEEE! IT’S HERE!

I generally arrive 1 hour before the ceremony is due to start and set up, talk to your other vendors, your family, your pet sitter, and everyone else.

When you arrive I will absolutely come and see you before the ceremony starts. This is a non negotiable to me! Not just because we’ll need to sign the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage, but also because I want you both to be feeling 100%, totally and utterly, without a doubt, over the moon excited and give you a massive hug (or high five if you’re not the hugging type). I’ll run through how to walk down the aisle with someone or by yourself, we’ll talk music queues and then I’ll head back up to start running the show.

After the ceremony I’ll either kick into MC mode, or I’ll give you a hug, fade into the background and go in search for some fries and a crispy can of Diet Coke (it’s a problem, I know)

6. After the big day

I’ll send your paperwork off to the Victorian department of Births, Death and Marriage and email you once I have.

Your paperwork will generally take 1-12 weeks to process, but I’ll keep you posted.

I’ll also send you an email with a link to provide some feedback too.
