Sophie & Meg: A Cocktail Wedding at The Farm Yarra Valley Full of Love, Laughter and One Very Good Boy Named Scout.

Some couples simply light up a room the moment you meet them, and Sophie and Meg were exactly that. Set against the rolling hills of The Farm Yarra Valley, with over 100 of their favourite people gathered together, a cocktail dress code, and a love story that started on Tinder and ended up including a dog named Scout, theirs was a celebration with joy woven into every single detail.

As their Wedding Celebrant and MC, I had the honour of guiding this beautiful couple through their ceremony, vows and reception, and I'm so excited to share a little of their day with you.

The Story

Sophie and Meg's love story began the way so many modern love stories do: with a swipe and a brave little "hi!" on Tinder. Their first date saw Meg pick Sophie up in her now infamous red Honda Jazz for Mexican food, followed by a movie at the drive in. By the end of the night, back in the driveway, Sophie leaned in for their first kiss, and neither of them looked back.

Seven years, countless adventures, one very loved dog, and a joint decision to plan their engagement together (no surprise proposal here, just two women deciding together that forever sounded like a great idea) later, they stood in front of their closest family and friends ready to say "I do."

Getting Ready Together

Rather than the traditional "first look," Sophie and Meg chose to spend the day getting ready together. It set the tone for the whole celebration: relaxed, joyful, and entirely on their own terms.

Walking Down the Aisle

One of my favourite moments of the entire day was the aisle song. Sophie and Meg chose Beyond by Leon Bridges, and rather than playing a recording, they had it performed live by their incredible duo. There is truly nothing like the sound of live music filling the air as a couple prepares to marry.

The Ceremony

We held the ceremony at The Farm Yarra Valley, on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, opening with an Acknowledgement of Country before diving into the heart of why we were all there: to celebrate a love that, as Sophie and Meg's friends and family would tell you, has always simply felt right.

Their wedding party held a special place in the ceremony, with heartfelt shoutouts to the friends who have shaped their journey, from best friends since primary school to sisters who have been there through thick and thin.

But it was the vows that truly captured the room. Meg promised, among other things, to always keep a piece of her best self for Sophie at the end of each day. Sophie promised to seek out dog friendly venues so Scout could always come along for the ride. Somewhere between the laughter and the happy tears, it was impossible not to feel the depth of what these two share.

To keep the party vibes going we signed the legal paperwork post ceremony, with their witnesses, Meg's mum Di and Sophie's stepdad Steve, standing proudly by their side, playing an important and personal role in the day without needing to say a word.

And then, with rings exchanged and legal vows spoken, I had the absolute pleasure of pronouncing Sophie and Meg married.

Confetti cannons and all.

The Details

Sophie and Meg, thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. Watching you say "I do" surrounded by your favourite people (and one very spoiled dog) was an absolute privilege.

What they had to say

“Precious was the first (and best) wedding decision we made! She officiated a family member’s wedding a few years prior and as soon as we met — we knew she’d be the perfect fit for us one day too.

We asked Precious to be both Celebrant and MC because we knew she’d bring the vibes all day. And that she did!

We felt so at ease with Precious. She was a calming presence in the lead up and before the ceremony — and knew how to work the crowd perfectly. She made sure everything ran smoothly — and that we had a margarita in hand at all times!

10/10 would recommend Precious ❤️’
