The Story
All good love stories need a beginning, and this one starts out innocently enough – with Nush and her bestie Bek petitioning to hire Ben based solely on his fantastic looks as a gorgeous straight man. Now I’m not saying that this reverse discrimination wasn’t founded – or that he didn’t have any other hireable qualities – but I just want it on the record that he was hired to be set up with Nush. I’d also like it noted that their story is one so beautiful that instead of trying to give a blow by blow account and failing to do it justice, I’m going to give you the highlights and focus more on the reasons why they fell in love.
So needless to say that they met, they started working together, and Ben had to wait until she’d broken up with the boy she was then dating so he bided his time flirting with her while she got over her bad boy tendencies. At the time Ben was living in Port Melbourne, cash strapped and living like every other 21-year-old – off mee goreng and beer. But once he scored this sweet new gig at Hudsons wiping tables and flirting with his not so soon to be wife, life was absolutely looking up. And when Nush finally broke up with her ex Bek thought it would be a great idea if Nush made out with Ben to get him out of her system. And safe to say it worked.
Things moved slowly from there, but always in the right direction. And when one night when they had been hanging out at 412 just sitting on the couch together chatting for hours when all of the sudden they both went quiet. Nush tells me that it was then that she thought “shit, I'm going to fall in love with this guy.” And Ben, picking up on what was between them, summed it all up by saying 'You know we're not just friends right? This is more than that.' It was then that Nush realised that they had both been thinking the same thing, feeling the same way, and life was changed.
