There's a particular kind of wedding that sticks with you long after the last song plays - and Megan & Josh's day at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood was exactly that. Loud in the best ways, unapologetically themselves, and built on ten years of genuine partnership, this was a wedding that felt like walking straight into the middle of a great love story already in progress.

I had the honour of being both Celebrant and MC for Megan & Josh's June 2026 wedding, and it's one I won't stop talking about.

A Love Story a Decade in the Making

Megan and Josh met the way the best stories start - through a mutual friend, at a party, sometime around 2013 or 2014 (the exact year is still debated between them, which tells you everything about how long ago it feels now). A shared love of music and film turned a friendship into something more in 2015, and from there, the story only got bigger: a trip to Japan, a shared enthusiasm for video games grew, then came a move to Melbourne, a shoebox apartment in Brunswick, a global lockdown, a broken leg, a new home in Footscray, and eventually, two much-loved pets.

But it was a customs mix-up in Japan - of all things - that made Megan realise how much she wanted to be legally tied to Josh. But Josh had his own plans brewing - a late-night walk through Kyoto's quiet Gion district ended in his own proposal, and Megan said yes.

Vows That Didn't Hold Back

‍Megan and Josh wrote their own vows, and true to form, they didn't play it safe. There was humour, honesty, and no shortage of genuine emotion - the kind of vows that make a room of 70 guests laugh one minute and well up the next. Their ceremony leaned into who they actually are: politically outspoken, deeply loyal to each other, a little silly, and completely unwilling to pretend otherwise for the sake of tradition.

That authenticity ran through the whole ceremony - from acknowledging the privilege of being able to freely celebrate love in a world where not everyone has that right, to a guest list stacked with the people who've shaped them both.

The Look: A Red Dress With a Story

‍Megan skipped the traditional white in favour of a striking red dress - made by her own mum, which added a whole extra layer of meaning to an already personal day. Hair and makeup came courtesy of The Distinctive Dame, finishing a look that was bold, confident, and completely Megan.

Rupert on Rupert: The Perfect Backdrop

Rupert on Rupert's warehouse-industrial space in Collingwood suited Megan and Josh's energy perfectly - moody, unpretentious, and built for a party. Madeline Kate was there to capture every moment of beauty, both candid and posed. With around 70 guests, the venue struck that sweet spot of feeling both intimate and lively, with styling and florals from The Lillipillian softening the industrial space without losing its edge.

Dancing 'Til the End

No surprises here - a couple who bonded over music and a shared love of a good night out were never going to have a quiet reception. Friend of the groom, DJ Mohit Rao kept the dancefloor full well into the night, capping off a day that was as much a celebration of friendship and family as it was of Megan and Josh themselves.
