Katie and Richard - a gorgeous Glasshaus Outside Wedding in Richmond.

Richard and Katie chose to get married at Glasshaus Inside

Richard and Katie were married on a Thursday in March 2023 at Glasshaus Inside, before heading to Cutler and Co. for dinner with their closest friends and family. And then on the Saturday night they continued their celebrations with a big shin dig at Siglo. What a perfect way to run your day!

With an intimate guest list of 26 for their Thursday celebrations, the Saturday was a proper party with 130 people invited to partake. This meant that they were able to have the best of both worlds and curate their take on a perfect wedding.

Alex Motta was booked for their photographer - and who better when you want beautiful, classic - yet romantic and natural - wedding photos for your day.

The Ceremony

The dream was to create a low key, warm, intimate and serene ceremony with their closest friends and family in the beautiful garden space that is Glasshaus Outside. Katie had never dreamt about a classic white wedding with a long aisle walk, and chose to walk in to her wedding to Nick Cave’s “Into My Arms" - one of my all time songs.

Their vows beautifully recounted not only their story, but also the reasons why they love each other. Katie and Richard both wove into their vows promises and declarations of intent for the future. What a joy it was to be their Celebrant.

Their story

Richard and Katie’s story starts like so many others do… at a house party in matching Superman / Superwoman outfits.

The year was 2016 and at the time Richard was hosting a ‘house cooling’ party before they moved out. The party must have been a good one, as they ended up having a second party the night after to continue the cooling.

As Richard told me, the night that they first met he described as being potentially uninspiring given that he’s naturally pretty timid. But by the second night Richard summoned up his inner courage and dressed as Superman made a move on his future Lois Lane. That night the attraction to each other was clear and Clark Kent took off his glasses and went in for the first kiss.

And it wasn’t a bird, it wasn’t a plane, it was true attraction.
