Revathi & Tim’s vibrant wedding at Rupert on Rupert, Collingwood.
What happens when two people who first matched on a dating app end up saying "I do" in one of Melbourne's most gorgeous wedding venues?
As the Celebrant for Revathi and Tim's wedding, I was thrilled to be back at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood - a warehouse-turned-wonderland of lush greenery, warm brick and industrial charm — for a ceremony as vibrant as the couple themselves.
A Hinge Match, a Missed Meeting, and an Instant Connection
Like so many Melbourne couples these days, Revathi and Tim have online dating to thank for bringing them together. After swiping right on each other on Hinge, they spent a few weeks messaging before agreeing to meet in person.
Their first date was set for 12 November 2019 - a simple coffee catch-up. Tim, ever punctual, turned up early. A little too early, in fact, and dressed straight from work in his uniform. He sat down at their meeting spot and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
It turned out Revathi hadn't stood him up at all - she'd gone to the wrong location and couldn't quite work out how to find him. So Tim packed up and headed over to where she actually was. The moment he laid eyes on her, he knew: this was someone special. The pair hit it off instantly, and their coffee date turned into a movie date on the spot.
It wasn't until they both stood up to leave that Tim realised just how short Revathi was - and, as he later told me, he remembers thinking there was an awful lot of sass packed into such a small person.

Getting Married at Rupert on Rupert
The moment I walked into Rupert on Rupert it became one of my favourite wedding venues in Melbourne, and it's easy to see why couples keep choosing it for their ceremony and reception. Tucked into the backstreets of Collingwood, the venue's mix of deep colours, perfectly complimented floral details and an indoor garden created the perfect vibrant, botanical backdrop for Revathi and Tim's ceremony. Their choice of bright florals, rich colour and plenty of personality just added to the day.
As their Celebrant, my job was to help Revathi and Tim feel completely at ease in front of their guests, and to make sure the ceremony reflected who they are as a couple - playful, warm and deeply devoted to each other.

Tim's Vows
Rev,
I promise three simple things.
The first is to support you always. To assure you that no hopes are too great to achieve, nor fears too great to overcome.
I want us to become a cute old couple, but with love as strong as it feels today. So my second promise is to learn and grow and nurture this relationship, so that wherever life takes us, we will always have each other.
The last is to love you - but this is cheating a little, as every day I find myself loving you more than the last.
Revathi's Vows
Tim, from the moment we met, you've brought light into my life. Even the biggest challenges, like moving interstate, became effortless and exciting - because I was with you.
Today, I vow to cherish you, support your dreams, and walk beside you through all of life's twists and turns. With you, I've found my forever - and I promise to be there for you, always.
Here's to growing old together, complete with grey hairs and the happy chaos of greyhounds. You are my best friend, and you make me incredibly happy. I love you.
